2010 Olympics on their way

The 2010 Winter Olympics, also known as the XXI Olympic Winter Games or the twenty-first Winter Olympics, will begin on February 12 and continue through the 28, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, with three or four events being held in the resort town of Whistler nearby. The games are being organized by the Vancouver Organizing Committee (VANOC).

The 2010 Winter Olympics will be the third Olympics hosted by Canada, but the first for the Province of British Columbia. Earlier, Canada was home to the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal and the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary.

The second World War interrupted the celebration of the 1940 Winter Olympics. The games were cancelled due to the sar. In 1944 the Winter Olympics were also cancelled due to World War ll.

The 2010 Winter Olympics opening ceremony will take place in the BC Place Stadium on 777 Pacific Blvd., Vancouver, British Columbia.

The Winter Olympics has fifteen sports such as Ice Hockey, Snowboarding, Cross-Country Skiing, Skeleton, and many more. Skeleton is the newest sport and also the oldest sport. Skeleton was first an Olympic sport in 1924 through 1948. Later in 2002 it was an Olympic sport again.

The mascots for the 2010 Winter  Olympics are Quatchi and Miga. Quatchi is Sasquatch. He comes from the mysterious forest of Canada and dreams of being a hockey goalie. Miga is a Mythical Sea Bear, part Orca and part Kermode Bear.
