Will 2012 Be The End?

December 21st, and the Earth is close to uninhabited. The remainder of our human race has turned into a twisted mutation of something out of a horror film. New York buildings are now ancient ruins that have  been created just a few hours ago.  The world's surface is a severe chapped lip with cracks of massive earthquakes.  The world is permanently scarred from the mass effects of this day.  A new era of an ice age is willing to start in order to cover the dead bodies piling in the thought to be safe havens everywhere.  The world has ended as you know it, and the year is 2012.

"I really don't think the world is going to end yet, and if it does in 2012, I bet it would just have to do with Nazi Zombies," kidded Robert P, 8th.

The thought of Earth coming to an end is a very common thought through out people.  People out of curiosity or interest come up with ideas which they vaguely relate to history and prophecies.

At this time the most commonly discussed idea for the end, is December 21, 2012.  The most common connection is the end of the Mayan calendar.  The Mayan calendar has vaguely predicted a large amount of catastrophes before, but people are skeptic as to what is going to happen.  The calender tells of great change happening in two thousand twelve.  Some people see this as a time for spiritual change or maybe a change in climate.  But most people think that the prediction for this date is a disaster.

Some have been so consumed by these ideas that they have gone to extremes to ensure that they will survive whatever catastrophe they predict.  People have also thought that they will stop at their jobs or anything because whatever they do, they think it will not be worth it by the time the world is thought to end.  Like Patrick Geryl who told ABC news how he quit his job at an oil company and now has only enough money to last until December 12, 2012.

"I think that everyone will internally combust while watching the T.V on December 2012, and that will be the end of it," said Kyle P, 8th.

Apart from all prophecies and what ifs, people are wondering how long our civilization will last with all this pollution and contamination.  Also now that the swine flu pandemic has begun 2012 seems more possible.  A big coincidence that also relates to 2012 is that N.A.S.A has found that throughout the December 2012 time period there might be some solar incident and an increase in sunspots on the sun.

Anyways the mind is always left to wonder on what can happen, but the way I see it the world ending at the time just sounds like a good marketing idea for books and movies. More than 175 books have been listed on Amazon.com relating to 2012 doomsday as of today.  I don't think doomsday will happen yet, and I don't want it to happen yet either because I don't think I'm ready to go.  So whatever you think will happen all we can do is wait and see.
