June 2, 2010
On Tuesday, June 15th, eligible students from Mill Creek Middle School will have the opportunity to go to Cedar Point, an amusement park located in Sandusky, Ohio for an end of the year trip. They will be taking Blue Lakes charter buses to Cedar Point and back.

Going to Cedar Point for an end of the year trip has been a tradition for several years and people seem to like the summer tradition. According to Hailey K, 7th, “I think the tradition of going to Cedar Point every year is brilliant! Cedar Point is amazing!”

Although both 7th and 8th grade students are invited, only certain students are allowed to go. You cannot go if you’ve been suspended from school for more than one day this year or if you’ve been suspended anytime in the fourth quarter, including in-school suspension. If you’ve received a four in citizenship on your progress report or final report card in the fourth quarter, you are also not able to participate in the Cedar Point trip.

The fee for the trip is $60.00. That only includes the bus ride and the ticket to the park and does not cover food or other spending money at Cedar Point. Forms for the trip with checks are were only accepted until Thursday, May 27th at 3:00 PM with no exceptions. To make sure you’re registered, there will be a list posted by Wednesday, June 2nd. It’s your responsibility to check the list for errors. Also if you are ineligible but already paid, the cost of the trip will be refunded. Besides that, no other refunds will be given. Students will be leaving for Cedar Point at 7:00 AM and will be back to Mill Creek at 10:00 PM.

Many 8th graders enjoyed the trip last year including Kat K. “I liked Cedar Point because it has such fun rides and it’s really fun to go on the trip with your friends. I went last year but I’m not going this year because I’m going with my family instead.”

The Cedar Point amusement park is full of different rides ranging from roller coasters to water rides. Cedar Point has seventeen roller coasters, the highest and the most thrilling being the Top Thrill Dragster. Cedar Point has a total of 75 rides, including a water ride coming out May 29th named Shoot the Rapids.

August B, 7th, who has been to Cedar Point before, said, “The Top Thrill Dragster and Wicked Twister were my favorite rides because they were like nothing I’ve ever experienced before.”
