Dairy Queen and A&W open for Spring

For most people, spring means flowers, rain, and warm weather, but for people in Dexter, spring means so much more.  Everyone in Dexter knows that when spring comes, so does the re-opening of Dairy Queen and A&W, two popular places to eat and hang out.   February 27, the two restaurants opened their doors and let the people of Dexter come and eat.  Almost everyone is happy to have these places open again.  “I'm so excited for DQ to be open again,” says Caroline H., 7th. “I love their blizzards!”

Being a student myself, I know a lot of kids go to DQ after school to hang out with friends, because it's so close.  “When I go, I normally see teens there hanging out,” says Jared J., 7th.  DQ is probably so popular because it is the only place in downtown Dexter that's an ice cream place.

The reason  A&W is so popular is because they've got food really quick.  Also they have the option of either going in to eat or eating in the comfort of your own car.  It seems like people really like this idea.  “I love A&W because they bring your food to you in your car,” says Katherine M, 7th.

When the day comes in the fall for these businesses to close, a lot of people are sad.  We all wish they would stay open all year, but their profits would go down.  Since both of the restaurants are outside, not many people would come to eat ice cream or drink root beer floats in the freezing cold.  Not to mention, the workers who come to your car or wait in the small ice cream building would get really cold, too.
