"Smart" boards coming to Dexter Schools
by GRACE K
April 15, 2010
At the end of the 2010 school year, Mill Creek is getting ENO boards in all classrooms.  “Right when the students get out of school we will be getting the ENO boards,”  says Ms. Bronson, Mill Creek principal.

The whole school is going underrenovation after the students get out of school to go on summer break.  When the students get back, the new boards should be in the classrooms.  They will allow better technology and easier access to teachers.  The boards are payed for by the Dexter community through the Bond.

ENO boards are interactive whiteboard systems created by Polyvision Technology. ENO boards are pretty much the same thing as Smart boards. The ENO boards allow touch inputs using a special pen. The board includes an extended control panel and a projector. The whiteboards also include simple things like a calculator to do math. These simple things are useful for teachers and students. They can help with math and games. If the teachers need a calculator, they don’t have to get up and get one from their desk. They have it right at their finger tips.

The ENO boards will help a lot of teachers. “They will help with the teachers' power points,” says Mr. Semple, 8th grade tech. ed. teacher. The projector can be connected to a computerso it can project what is on the computer.

Mill Creek students and staff are very excited about the ENO boards and have no worries. “I have no worries about the boards," exclaims Ms. Bronson. The whiteboards’ technology will be very helpful with learning skills.
