Lindsey Vonn competes in Olympics
by JOSH B
24 March 2010
In the February 2010 Winter Olympics, Lindsey Vonn did the Slalom, Giant Slalom, Downhill, Super-combined and Super-G.  Coming into the Vancouver Olympics, she was thought to win three golds.  But since she crashed on her Slalom, she got one gold and one bronze.  She said after she crashed, "I could have have done better in some disciplines, especially the Super Combined and also the Giant Slalom.”  The gold that she got this year is her first medal from the Olympics.

Lindsey Vonn is known as one of the most successful female ski racers in American history.  She is the only American woman to have won two World Cup overall titles, but she also has two downhill titles and a super G title.  She is also the first American woman to get a gold in the Olympic woman's downhill skiing.  She finished this year with the most wins in a single season.  She has nine wins this season. Tim E,  8th says, “Lindsey Vonn could have gotten gold on the downhill if she didn't crash.”

This past season she had a difficult time competing because of some injuries she said that were “excruciating.” She raced despite her injuries.  She got the gold in Giant Slalom and a bronze in the Super-G.  She got a 1:44.19 on the women's downhill and got a 1:20.88 on the Super-G.  She won her third downhill title and tied with Bode Miller for the most world cup victories by an American with 32.
