Detroit Pistons Pre-Season

The Detroit Pistons had a bad season last year. But hopefully this year they'll make Detroit proud, considering the Tigers and Lions let us down. The first game is scheduled for October 30 at in Oklahoma City.

On the off-season the pistons have drafted 3 players, Austin Daye, Dajuan Summers, and Jonas Jerebko. They also got Chase Budinger through a trade with Arizona. Daye is a very tall player at 6' 10", and Summers and Jerebko are both taller than 6' 6". That means that they may have a chance against teams like the Cavs and the Timberwolves with there huge teams."We got rid of primetime players like Allen Iverson and Rasheed Wallace, but we got potential good players like Ben Gordon and Charley Villanueva," Says Kyle V, 8th, "and we got a first round draft pick who is doing well in the pre-season."

The Pistons played a pre-season game the 22 of October at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The final score was 122-114 Minnesota. But it was a close game. Detroit was winning by three points at the half but the Timberwolves came back in the second to win. It was probably Detroit's mistakes like losing the ball and getting rebounds and Minnesota's many forced turnovers that gave the win in the end.

They had another pre-season game at Milwaukee on Friday October 24 and won after a close game. "Ben Wallace had 14 rebounds and 3 blocks and two steals. which is really good," says Kyle. Rodney Stuckey also had a great all-around game with 16 total points and 9 in the last 4 and a half minutes.

The Pistons have also played many other pre-season games. They have won about half of their 8 pre-season games so I expect them to do well. "They should have a better season than last year," says Julie S, 8th. "They have a good all around team and should be able to win some important games." So there you have it, a full report on the Detroit Pistons.
