Swine flu hits

Swine flu, is it really that serious? Ask yourself that. What do you think? First off, listen to this then decide what you think of the swine flu. The swine flu virus usually is found infecting pigs. The virus then mutates and can become infectious to humans, who usually also have barely any way of not catching the virus. That means that the virus would be easier to get around and the treatment is not here yet so if you know someone with the  swine flu, tell them not to come to school just for everyone else's safety.

Also, don't think that if you get it you have like a month to live and that you could die at any second, because that isn't true. Because when most people get it, they don't know or they get over it without any medical attention at all. Not even a common doctor. Jake S, 7th, says ,"It is just like any other flu but you get a higher temperature and it hurts more in the chest." You usually will get a temperature from 100.00 degrees to 105.00 degrees, vomiting, and it goes away and you will think that you are fine and then it will come back harder. It really is a terrible virus. Dr. Chan says, " For the first time in history we can track the evolution of a pandemic in real time."

Remember though, just because I am telling you this doesn't mean that the swine flu is nothing to worry about, because since it first appeared in April to the United States it has sickened more than one million Americans and killed around five hundred people, according to WebMd. It has also spread across the entire world infecting thousands of people and killing a total of two thousand. So always wash your hands after going to the bathroom to kill any germs and stop the spread of illness. Since America has the most infected people in the entire world!

But instead of calling it swine flu, the official name by The Center of Disease Control is H1N1. A report from the White House also states that around thirty percent of the nation is able to catch the swine flu meaning that if it doesn't stop now or soon the death toll could go up really quickly.

H1N1 is also tougher on some people. Here are some people it is tougher on: children under two, pregnant women, and people with health problems like asthma, diabetes, heart problems. Teenagers and young adults are also more vulnerable to the virus.

This is a very serious issue that we all really need to pay attention to to stop it, not just be careful where you cough and sneeze though. We all need to wash our hands before lunch, after lunch and use hand sanitizer after leaving the rooms. Also make sure to wipe down your lunch table every time you're finished.

The Center of Disease Control says, " The H1N1 is now considered a international pandemic and is causing chaos throughout the world."
