The Tigers will do well this year

You hear a crack of a bat followed by the announcer saying, “That’s another run for the Tigers!” This happens a lot at Comerica Park, so why does everyone think that the Tigers will do terrible this year? For all of those people out there who think this, I disagree with you. I think the Tigers will not only do good but I think they will do great. I have a few reasons for this.

My first reason is that the Tigers have Miguel Cabrera. Cabrera is in the race for MVP every year. He averages 33 home runs 117 RBI’s and has a batting average of .311. Not only that, but he has been doing that over the years with an alcohol issue, which he has solved this offseason with counseling. “I’m taking my time. I feel much more confident, and every day I feel like I’m getting better,” Cabrera said. So my prediction is that he will do amazing. Cabrera will also have a more confident Magglio Ordonez batting in front of him and a healthy Carlos Guillen batting behind him, which will protect him and set him up for more RBI’s.

Not only do they have a good offense led by Cabrera, but they have a good pitching staff led by Justin Verlander and Rick Porcello. Justin Verlander came off of a third place vote in the Cy Young award. “He’s a special talent. I think he’s one of the premiere pitchers in the league, not just young pitchers,” says Tiger manager Jim Leyland on Verlander. Verlander was 19-9 last year with a 3.45 ERA. Porcello is coming off his rookie season in which he went 14-9 with a 3.96 ERA. Verlander and Porcello will be a very dominant one-two punch at the top of the rotation.

However, according to some of baseball's executives, the trade of Curtis Granderson will make the Tigers terrible this year. “I think the Tigers will have problems in the outfield because they traded Curtis Granderson,” said Andrew P, 7th. They think this because the Tigers don’t have anyone to replace him. That is what they think. I think they have the perfect replacement in Austin Jackson.  Jackson has a career batting average of .288 and Granderson's is .272. They are both about the same speed, so Jackson will be an overall improvement to the team.

So don’t believe everything people are saying about the Tigers.
